Factors that improve eligibility include stable long-term employment, home ownership or long-term tenancy, time at current address, no recent missed payments or defaults, and a limited number of recent credit applications. If your credit history is limited — for example, as a recent graduate or someone who has never held credit — a credit-builder card with a low limit and high APR is often the first step to establishing a credit file.
