If your property is in a high flood-risk area, insurance can be significantly more expensive or hard to obtain. The Flood Re scheme makes affordable flood insurance available for eligible properties built before 2009.

Not all properties are eligible — Flood Re does not cover properties built after 1 January 2009, commercial properties, or certain converted properties. If your property is ineligible for Flood Re, specialist high-risk insurers may be your only option and premiums can be substantial.
