2. What Data We Collect and Why

2.1 Calculator Inputs

All calculations are performed entirely within your browser (client-side JavaScript). We do not transmit, receive, store, or log any financial figures you enter into our calculators. Your salary, income, savings, mortgage details, and any other financial data remain on your device.

2.2 Contact Form Submissions

If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, subject, and message. This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any marketing list without explicit consent. Messages are retained for 24 months, then permanently deleted.

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 collects anonymised data including pages visited, time on site, device type, browser, and approximate geographic region (country/city). This data cannot be used to identify individuals. IP addresses are anonymised before storage. We do not share analytics data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. GA4 data is retained for 14 months.

You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time: Download the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

2.4 Advertising Cookies (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies (including DoubleClick cookies) to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site or other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.

Legal basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR) — you can withdraw consent via our cookie banner at any time.

2.5 Technical and Session Data

Our web server automatically records standard log data: IP address, request time, page URL, HTTP referrer, and browser/device type. This data is used for security monitoring and server diagnostics. It is retained for 30 days and not used for profiling.
