Enter your current monthly broadband package cost and the download speed you are quoted. The calculator derives cost per Mbps — a standardised measure for comparing value across different packages and providers. A package at £30 per month for 100 Mbps costs £0.30 per Mbps, while £45 per month for 900 Mbps costs only £0.05 per Mbps. Raw cost per Mbps favours ultrafast packages even if the absolute price is higher. Consider how much speed you actually need: streaming 4K video requires around 25 Mbps per stream; video conferencing uses 5-10 Mbps. Multiple simultaneous users multiply the required bandwidth. If your household needs are met comfortably at 100 Mbps, paying significantly more for 500 Mbps delivers no practical benefit.
